TROY, N.Y. - The line of Jaimie Grigsby, Shayna Tomlinson and Makenna Thomas combined for seven points to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team to a 4-1 win over Brown University in an ECAC Hockey contest at the Houston Field House. The Engineers extend their unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1) and are now 3-4-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference. The Bears fall to 0-4-0 and 0-2-0.

Tomlinson, who had a goal and two assists, got the scoring started when she scored on a penalty shot at 3:50 of the second period. The senior captain skated in with speed before cutting to her right and scoring through the legs of Brown netminder Lauren Rippy. The penalty shot was assessed after a Bears player covered the puck with her hand while it was in the crease.

Alley Rempe tied the game midway through the second period when she jammed in a loose puck at 10:30. There was a scramble in front of the crease with Rempe finally able to push it across the goal line for her second of the season.

The score remained 1-1 until early in the third period when RPI junior Josephine Hanson fired a slapshot from the blueline and into the goal with the Engineers on the power play. Grigsby and Tomlinson both earned assists on the eventual game-winning goal.

Thomas got on the score sheet with a power play goal of her own when she skated down the right side and rifled a shot past Rippy's glove hand and inside the left post. An empty net goal by Grigsby with 1:15 to play sealed the win.

Junior Lovisa Selander, who had an assist on Grigsby's goal, finished with 26 saves, including 11 in the first period. Rippy had 31 saves on the other end, including 15 in the first period.

Rensselaer is back on the ice when it travels to UConn for a games on November 3-4. Brown hosts St. Lawrence and Clarkson those days.
