MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Middlebury Collge field hockey team tallied three goals in in a span of 14:15 during Tuesday's opening half, and the No. 6 Panthers went on to a 3-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) at Kohn Field.

Middlebury (7-2) jumps back into NESCAC play when it travels to No. 4 Tufts University on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.., while the Engineers (1-9) entertain 17th-ranked Rochester on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

The Panthers got on the scoreboard on a penalty corner at 10:32 when Lauren Schweppe blasted a shot that tucked just inside the left post for her third goal of the season. Just 35 seconds later, Middlebury doubled its lead when Grace Jennings raced down the left side of the field, sending a cross through the crease that Danielle Brown tapped in on the far post. The tally was Brown's third of the fall.

The hosts made it a 3-0 contest at 24:47 when Jennings weaved her way down the left side. She quickly worked back into the middle just inside the arc, slipping a shot just by the pad of Engineers goalie Rachel Kaufman for her third goal this season.

After the halftime break, Middlebury's best scoring opportunity came in the 58th minute when a hard shot from Schweppe on a penalty corner hit the left post and caromed away. The Engineers greatest chance came when they earned back-to-back penalty corners a little more than eight minutes into the second stanza, but were unable to muster a shot.

Abby Furdak didn't need to make a save for the Panthers in her second shutout of the season, while Kaufman finished with 13 stops for the Engineers. Middlebury held a 28-1 advantage in shots and a 12-4 advantage in penalty corners.
