Rensselaer begins a stretch of four straight out of conference contests this weekend, when it hosts the University of New Hampshire for a two-game series at the Houston Field House ... Puck drop is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday.
ALL-TIME VS. UNH
New Hampshire owns a 4-0-1 hold on the all-time series against RPI, including a 4-3 victory in the inaugural meeting – November 21, 2009, in Durham, N.H. The Engineers earned their tie (3-3) on November 27, 2015, at the Houston Field House.
RECENTLY VS. THE WILDCATS
Rensselaer and UNH met most recently on November 27 and 28, 2015, at the Houston Field House for a two game series. They played to a 3-3 tie in the series opener, before the Wildcats won, 2-1.
Alexa Gruschow netted a hat trick in the first game, with Lovisa Selander saving 30. Game two saw Amy Boucher net a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winner with 8:19 to play. Selander turned away 27 in that contest.
ENGINEERS SPLIT LEAGUE WEEKEND
RPI found itself on both sides of 2-1 decisions last weekend, defeating Princeton, before falling at Quinnipiac. Sabrina Repaci and Makenna Thomas built a 2-0 lead against the Tigers, before riding Lovisa Selander's season-high 46 saves to a win. Melissa Samoskevich then potted the game-winner in the third period to lead the Bobcats to victory.
RPI LEADERS
The Engineers are paced offensively by senior captain Shayna Tomlinson, who has three goals and six assists for nine points in 12 games. Junior Jaimie Grigsby (3 goals, 4 assists) has seven points, while two others have two points, including classmates Makenna Thomas (3 goals, 2 assists) and Josefine Hansen (2 goals, 3 assists).
GOALTENDERS
Junior Lovisa Selander is 4-6-2 with a 2.07 goals against average and a .936 save percentage through 12 games this season. Classmate Kira Bombay owns a 0-2-0 career mark in seven appearances, with a 5.67 goals against average and an .860 save percentage.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats have four players with double-digit point totals through 12 games, including sophomore Meghara McManus (5 goals, 6 assists) and senior Julia Fedeski (5 goals, 6 assists), who have 11 points apiece. Sophomores Carlee Turner (5 goals, 5 assists) and Taylor Wenczkowski (3 goals, 7 assists) each have 10 points.
GOALTENDERS
Freshman Ava Boutilier has started all 12 games for the Wildcats, going 6-3-3 with a 2.13 goals against average and a .927 save percentage. Junior Hilary Cashin has made one appearance this year and carries a 5.68 goals against average and an .842 save percentage.
