TROY, N.Y. – Senior Eleni Tebano recorded two goals and an assist to lead the Dartmouth College women's hockey team to a 4-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Friday night at the Houston Field House. With the win, the Big Green improve to 6-19-0 (4-15-0 ECAC Hockey), while the Engineers drop to 9-20-2 (6-12-1 ECAC Hockey).
Tebano (Glastonbury, CT/Westminster School) opened the scoring at 18:28 of the first period, firing a shot through a screen from the high slot. Blueliner partner and classmate Emma Korbs (Toronto, ON/Malvern) and freshman Cecilia Lopez (Winnipeg, MB/St. Mary's Prep) picked up the assists.
Freshman Christina Rombaut (Rothesay, NB/Rothesay Netherwood Riverhawks) doubled the visitors' advantage at 17:17 of the second, taking a feed from senior Kennedy Ottenbreit (Grayson, SK/Shattuck St. Mary's) and burying her fourth goal of the season. Tebano earned the secondary assist on the play.
Dartmouth extended its lead to 3-0 at 5:32 of the third, with Tebano netting her second of the night and sixth of the season. Sophomore Tess Bracken (Winnipeg, MB/Balmoral Hall) ripped a shot from the right point that caromed to Tebano, who was crashing the back post for the backhand tally.
Senior Mackenzie St. Onge (Stowe, VT/North American Hockey Academy) added an empty-netter with four minutes left for the final goal of the game. Junior Hailey Noronha (Newmarket, ON/Whitby Jr. Wolves) earned the lone helper on St. Onge's second of the year.
Big Green senior netminder Robyn Chemago (Slave Lake, AB/Slave Lake Minor Hockey) finished with 32 saves for the shutout, while RPI sophomore
Lovisa Selander (Sollentuna, Sweden/SDE Riksserien) had 19 stops at the other end of the ice.
The Engineers finished 0 for 5 on the power play, including a long 5-on-3 advantage in the second period, while the Big Green went 0 for 3.
RPI is back on the ice tomorrow afternoon, when it hosts Harvard (3pm). Dartmouth visits Union tomorrow (3pm).
