Men's Soccer Hosts Keene on Sunday

Engineers break away from Liberty League to face Owls (3:30pm)

NON-LEAGUE BREAK
After beginning Liberty League play on Saturday, the Engineers host their annual meeting with Keene State on Sunday at East Campus Stadium (3:30pm).

ALL-TIME VS. THE OWLS
Keene State owns a narrow 8-6-2 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to September 14, 1997. The Owls won the inaugural meeting, 3-1, in Troy. RPI is 4-2-2 at home in the series.

RECENTLY
Rensselaer has had more success in recent years, owning a 6-2-0 record since 2009 and a 3-1-0 mark over the last four seasons.

2016 VS. KEENE STATE
Nick Revano scored the game's only goal in the fifth minute and the Engineers won, 1-0, in Keene, N.H., on October 26, 2016. RPI won, despite getting outshot 18-15. Matt LaBranche made six saves for the win between the sticks.

RENSSELAER WINS IN OVERTIME
Sophomore Brandon Pirog scored twice, including the game-winner two minutes into overtime, to send the Engineers home with a 3-2 victory at Bard on Saturday. Classmate Austin Betterly also tallied for RPI, which received a pair of saves from fellow sophomore keeper Matt LaBranche.

RENSSELAER LEADERS
Sophomore Austin Betterly has a team-high nine points on four goals and one assist. Classmate Dylan Confair (1 goal, 4 assists) and junior Danny Corridan (2 goals, 2 assists) have six points apiece.

FOR KEENE STATE
Senior Promise Kpee (3 goals) leads the Owls with six points. He is followed by Riley Steele (1 goal, 4 assists) with six points and freshman Brandon Castor (1 goal, 2 assists), who has four.

OWLS TOP EAST CONN. STATE
Keene State rebounded from allowing a fourth minute goal to win, 2-1, on Saturday in Little East Conference play. Promise Kpee netted his second and third goals of the year for the Owls in the ninth and 31st minutes, respectively. Jason Smith made four saves.

UP NEXT
RPI resumes Liberty League play next Saturday, when it visits Skidmore (2pm).
