HAMILTON, N.Y. - Colgate's Olivia Zafuto and Bre Wilson-Bennett each scored a game-high two points in RPI's 5-0 loss on the road Saturday afternoon.
Zafuto scored two goals with Wilson-Bennett coming up two assists while goalie Julia Vandyk came up with ten saves on the win.
Colgate (22-3-1, 12-2-0 ECACH) controlled the first few minutes of play until Megan Sullivan was charged with penalty for cross-checking. The best opportunity of the power play came from junior
Jaimie Grigsby but the effort was saved by Vandyk.
20 seconds after the power play ended, Zafuto scored the game's first goal off an assist from Coralie Larose at the 5:35 mark.
RPI (7-14-5, 8-8-2 ECACH) senior
Shayna Tomlinson won the faceoff at center ice following the Raider goal that led to a second Grigsby shot that was once again saved by Vandyk.
Ten minutes later, Colgate was awarded a power play off hooking from
Amanda Kimmerle. The Raiders took eight shot attempts with four saves from Rensselaer netminder
Kira Bombay, but the Engineers came up with a successful kill.
However, the Raiders broke through the RPI defense with 4:58 left in the period when Sullivan scored her 10th goal of the season off assists from Wilson-Bennett and Kaila Pinkney.
Colgate opened the second period with its third goal on an unassisted goal by Shelby Perry 1:16 into play.
A little more than four minutes later, sophomore
Blake Orosz took the Engineers first shot of the period, but Vandyk came up with her third save of the game.
Colgate drew a penalty at 6:35 off hooking from Ana Orzachowski. Malia Schneider and Annika Zalweski each cracked shots at the RPI net, but Bombay stifled both chances. Sullivan took the Raider's third shot of the power play that Bombay saved.
At 12:23, Colgate's Jessie Eldridge was called for interference. Less than one minute into the powerplay, Larose attempted a short handed goal that Bombay saved to keep the game 3-0 going into the second intermission.

Morgan Ondrick took shots for the Engineers that were saved by Vandyk.
Orzechowski took Rensselaer's third shot of the period that was also saved by Vandyk, but Colgate responded by scoring 7:38 into the period with Zafuto's second goal of the game with assists from Malia Schneider and Bailey Larson.
Following the Raider's fourth goal, Kimmerle took her first shot of the game, but Vandyk once again saved the puck from crossing into the net.
The Raider's continued going hard at the Engineer net. Bombay came up with six straight saves, but Colgate broke through on a Lauren Wildfang goal from Shae Labbe and Annika Zalewski to go up 5-0.

Whitney Renn and freshman
Aimee Raithby in the final minutes of the game to try to break the shutout, but Vandyk and the Raiders defense held strong.
The Engineers had a total 23 team blocks led by Burnett.
Vandyk was awarded the win on 10 saves while Bombay picked up the loss on a 37 save effort.
Rensselaer goes into next weekend for a rival doubleheader with Union. The first matchup is on the road in Schenectady, NY at 6 pm, followed by the inaugural Mayor's Cup on the women's side at 3 pm at the Times Union Center. Unlike the men's side, the women's Mayor's Cup counts as an ECAC Hockey conference game.
