TROY, NY - Sophomore
Jessica Kugelman broke both the 1 mtr and 3 mtr school and pool records in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's (RPI) 178-63 win over rival Union College Friday night.

Michaela Yamashita were recognized for their contributions to the Engineer swim program.
In the 1 mtr dive, Kugelman broke Maggie Callather's 2013 school record (278.55) and RPI's Maddie Miller's 2016 pool record (273.75) with a score of 279.75. Meanwhile, in the 3 mtr dive, the sophomore broke her own 2017 school record of 291.40 and Miller's pool record of 275.00 with an outstanding score of 305.20. Both of Kugelmen's scores were also NCAA Regional meet qualifiers, a feet she has performed in both events once already this season.
While Kugelmen swept first place in both dives, the Engineers garnered the top three spots in the 1 mtr and top two in the 3 mtr. Junior
Alex Gibbons (234.30) and Pisacano (226.30) were second and third in the 1 mtr, while Piscano (221.40) took second in the 3 mtr. Both of Pisacano's dives and Gibbons 1 mtr finish were career bests.
In the 50 freestyle, Yamashita took first place with a time of 25.16 and was .89 seconds away from breaking her own 2017 school record. Freshman
Kaitlin Joyce finished in second at 25.45, edging Union's Lindsay Hemminger by .14 seconds.

Kristen Cregin had a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle. Sauve finished with a time of 2:01.90 while Cregin edged Union's Emilee Nason by .19 seconds at the wall.
The RPI women also saw top two finishes in the 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly and 1000 freestyle. Junior
Amanda Wang and freshman
Emily Mayoras registered a 2:08.46 and a 2:11.88, respectively, in the 200 backstroke. Mayoras was a mere 1.22 seconds away from setting a new collegiate best. In the 200 butterfly, Lin (2:07.27) and freshman
Rebecca Baione (2:15.68) were the top finishers, while
Jessica Sauve (11:21.30) and freshman
Ashley German (11:26.18) took the 1000 freestyle.
The Sauve sisters both continued their dominating performances with each garnering a second individual first place finish. Jessica finished first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.50, edging Hemminger at the wall by .63 seconds. The senior was a mere 1.30 seconds away from setting a new season best. Meanwhile, Danielle took the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:20.86, more than 13 seconds faster than the closest swimmer.
Finally, RPI took the top two spots in both relay events. In the 400 medley relay, the first event of the evening, the team of Wang, Lin, Joyce and junior
Caitlyn Gardiner took first place with a time of 4:05.65, while Mayoras, Kane, Baione and Cregin garnered second at 4:14.70.
In the exciting 400 freestyle relay, the final event of the night, the team of Yamashita, Joyce and the Sauve sisters finished in the top spot with a time of 3:40.46, while Wang, Lin, German and freshman Miriam Tharwat edged Union's top team by 1.63 seconds with a time of 3:47.56.
RPI, who is ranked 20th in the most recent national CSCAA/TYR poll, is back in the pool tomorrow afternoon for the Kumpf Invitational at Robison Pool. Events are set to start at noon.
