SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team saw eight different swimmers win individual events in its 197-95 win at Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon.
Michaela Yamashita swept the butterfly events with a 1:00.11 in the 100 and a 2:17.60 in the 200.
Jessica Sauve also recorded a sweep in the freestyle sprints with a 25.54 in the 50 and a 55.34 in the 100.
Danielle Sauve took first place in the 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM with times of 2:28.75 and 4:36.72, respectively. Diver
Jessica Kugelman rounded out the multiple event winners with first place finishes in the one meter (239.70) and three meter dives (240.83).
The Engineers took first in the 200 and 1000 freestyle events with
Kaitlin Joyce and
Shanny Lin reaching the wall first in 2:01.86 and 11:25.93, respectively.
In the backstroke,
Sarah Sundius won the 100 in 1:13.06 while
Emily Mayoras took the 200 in 2:14.06.
Amanda Wang was the final individual winner with a first place finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.20.
The RPI women finished the dual meet with two first place finishes in both relay events. The 200 medley relay was won by Wang, Sauve, Sauve and Yamashita in 1:51.80, while the team of Joyce, Kane, Lin and Wang took the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.79.
The Engineers return to the pool next Saturday for a dual meet with Hamilton on the road. Events are set to begin at 1pm.
