GAMEDAY (Nov. 16, 2018): The Engineers look to improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 at home when they face Farmingdale State in a non-conference game.
FIRST GAME: The visiting Rams are playing their second game after beginning the season on Thursday at home against Brooklyn College.
SECOND MEETING: Rensselaer and Farmingdale have met just once in women's basketball with the Engineers prevailing, 83-79 on November 24, 2013, in a game at Amherst.
NOVEMBER 24, 2013: With the score tied 75-75, RPI's Ashley Clough connected on a three-pointer and Kristen Van Gilst hit a jump shot to give Rensselaer the advantage with 1:26 remaining ... Farmingdale State closed to within two points but fell, 83-79 ... The Engineers were led by Clough and Amanda Lynch, who both recorded double-doubles ... Clough scored 19 points with 11 caroms, while Lynch had 15 points and 10 boards ... Nicky Young scored 21 points with 15 rebounds, eight assists and seven steals for the Rams.
RPI'S FIRST GAME:
Elizabeth Eckhardt scored 20 points and 12 other Rensselaer student-athletes also registered points as the Engineers defeated Albany College of Pharmacy, 84-50 ... Eckhardt made 7 of 13 shots, including 5 of 7 from three-point range, while also registering a team-best four assists with two rebounds and a steal in 21 minutes ... Junior
Ines Ortea also reached double figures, scoring 12 points with five rebounds ... Guard
Courtney Lewis led all players with 11 rebounds.
GAME TWO: After scoring 25 points in the first half, Rensselaer scored 33 points in the third quarter alone and the Engineers defeated Gordon, 77-62 ... Senior
Elizabeth Eckhardt led RPI with 21 points, including six three pointers, along with five rebounds ...
LaKissa Martin added 16 points with six rebounds, three assists, two steals and a pair of blocks ...
Sam O'Keefe chipped in with a game-high seven assists ... Junior
Ines Ortea had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Coming off her first collegiate action, Rensselaer's
Brielle Sharry was named the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week ... She scored 17 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the floor and 7 of 8 from the foul line with two rebounds, six assists and a steal ... She scored six points with a rebound, four assists and a steal in a win over Pharmacy ... She then notched 11 points, a rebound and two assists in a win over Gordon.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL: Senior
Elizabeth Eckhardt was named to the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll after she averaged 20.5 points in 27.0 minutes per game while also registering seven total rebounds, five assists and three steals.Â
UPCOMING: The Engineers are back on the court on Sunday at No. 1 Amherst College (3pm) ... Farmingdale State plays the Mammoths on Saturday ... It will be the third game in three days for the Rams.
