WINNECONE, Wis. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's cross country team had two finishers in the first 100 and the Engineers equaled the school record with a 13th place spot at the NCAA Division III Championship, which was held at Lake Breeze Golf Club. RPI, which had 399 points, equaled the the 2016 squad for the best in Rensselaer history.
Senior
Grant O'Connor was first on the team and 23rd overall to earn his third career National All-America certificate. He ran the 8K course in 24:52.9, which was just over a second from a top 20 finish (24:51.4). His mile pace was 5:00.4. Classmate
Sean O'Connor had a 48th place finish with a time of 25:04.8 and junior
Noah Falasco was 131st in 25:46.9.
Junior
Joe Domanico was 25 places behind Falasco with a time of 25:54.7 and
Jake Davis finished 191st in 26:04.9.
Henry Jaques (26:24.7) and
Jake Kloman (26:55.5) also ran for the Engineers, who were only nine points behind the University of Chicago.
North Central won the title with 43 points, led by Dhruvil Patel, who ran in a 4:54.7 pace for a 24:24.5 finishing time. Al Baldonado, also of North Central, was second with a time of 24:29.7.
