CLINTON, N.Y. –
Shanny Lin broke the William H. Bristol Pool record in the 200 butterfly as the senior paced the #20 Engineers in a 215-83 win against the Continentals Saturday afternoon.
Lin finished the 200 fly in 2:06.18 while also taking first in the 100 fly with a time 58.89, her second fastest finish of the year in the event.
In the one meter dive,
Alex Gibbons garnered her first collegiate win with a career best 238.20. The freshman was followed by
Jessica Kugelman with a score of 231.75. In the three meter dive, the two divers switched rolls with Kugelman taking first (250.05) and Gibbons coming in second (205.95) with her second PR of the day.
RPI's
Amanda Wang placed first in a team-high three events. The junior finished top in the 100 backstroke (59.49), 200 backstroke (2:10.26) and 200 IM (2:15.88).
Kaitlin Joyce took two events for the Engineers with first place finishes in the 50 freestyle (25.57) and 100 free (56.13).
Danielle Sauve touched the wall first in the 200 free with a time 2:00.99 with a second first place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:15.51. The senior just edged her twin sister Jessica at the wall in the 500 free by .24 seconds. However,
Jessica Sauve placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.98.
Rounding out individual winners for Rensselaer was junior
Caitlyn Gardiner with a 2:34.07 in the 200 breast.
The Engineers topped both relay events with the team of Wang, Sauve, Sauve and Lin taking first in the 200 medley relay (1:51.51) while Sauve, Sauve and seniors
Sarah Sundius and
Erin Kane touched the wall first in the 200 free relay (1:42.64).
RPI returns to Robison Pool for its final meet of the year on Feb. 10 for the RPI Invitational.
