MINNEOLA, Fla. - Sophomore
Cam Caswell went 3-6 with five RBI's in Rensselaer's wins over Westfield State (9-1, eight innings) and Framingham State (10-2, five innings) on Sunday evening.
Caswell combined for a 1.000 slugging percentage with a double, triple and two runs. RPI (4-2) senior
Victoria Greco was 2-3 with two runs, a RBI, sacrifice fly and two stolen bases. Sophomore
Maddie Provencher and sophomore Victoria DeStefano combined for six runs, four hits, six walks and two stolen bases. Leading the Engineers in base running was senior
Kacie Herity with a team-high three stolen bases.
In the first game of the day Westfield State (0-2), the Owls' started the scoring in the bottom of the first when Bri Tortora scored off a Maddy Atkocaitis single through the right side to put Westfield up 1-0.
In the top of the fourth, Rensselaer broke up Emily Woodworth's no-hitter when Provencher doubled to right centerfield with one out on the board. The sophomore advanced to third on a groundout to second, but Provencher was left stranded on third off a popup to second.
RPI recorded their second hit of the game when Herity led off the bottom of the fifth with a single up the middle as a pinch hitter. The senior advanced to second on a wild pitch and third with a stolen base to put herself in scoring position with no outs on the board. After a flyout to center, Herity scored off a DeStefano single up the middle to tie the game 1-1.
Both sides were held scoreless over the next two innings to force extra innings. With the international tie breaker in effect, DeStefano was placed on second to start the inning.
Christine White hit a sacrifice fly to center to give the Engineers their first lead of the game. White's RBI was then followed up by a two-run homer by sophomore

Steph Cavallaro all scored unearned runs off RBI's from Cavallaro, Caswell (two RBI's) and senior
Rebecca Kienz to give RPI a 9-1 lead going into the bottom of the inning.
The Engineer defense held Westfield at bay after senior
Sarah Harms retired the side after coming on in relief in the bottom of the sixth.
Harms was credited with her third win of the year while giving up two hits with three strikeouts over three innings of work.
Jaime Cleasby, who started in the circle for Rensselaer, gave up one hit with five strikeouts over five innings of work. Woodworth (0-1) picked up the loss while only two of the seven runs against her were earned.
In the second game with Framingham State (0-2), the Rams' Mycala Moody had the first hit of the game with a one out since to left field. After a foul flyout to third put two runs on the board, Kayla Finacchiaro homered to left center to give Framingham a 2-0 lead.
RPI had their first hit of the contest in the bottom of the second when Cavallaro singled to first base to put runners on the corners with two outs. After Kienz drew a walk to load the bases, DeStefano hit a two-RBI single down the left field line to tie the game 2-2.
The Ram's Eleanor Callery led off the top of the third with a double that rolled deep into left field under a diving Provencher. Callery tried to extend her hit into a triple, but Kienz made a throw from the outfield to Hunt at third to tag the runner.
In the bottom of the inning, White extended the Engineer lead to 3-2 off a Greco sacrifice fly to centerfield. Provencher then score Rensselaer's fourth run of the game off a double steal with Herity.
RPI added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth when Kienz and Caswell scored back-to-back runs off RBI's from Caswell and White to put the Engineers up 6-2.
Harm led Rensselaer in the circle by retiring the side in the fourth and fifth innings with one strikeout to keep the Rams off the bags.
In the bottom of the fifth, Greco put RPI up 7-2 by stealing home after advancing to third off a pass ball. Rensselaer then extended its lead to 9-2 with a two-RBI single by Caswell to bring Kienz and Herity home. The following at bat, DeStefano scored off a White single through the left side to end the game with an eight-run mercy rule.
Harms (4-1) was credited with the complete game win with two strikeouts while Framingham's Kelsi Gunarathne (0-1) picked up the loss with one strikeout.
White led the game, going 304 with three RBI's and one run.
The Engineers take tomorrow off and return to action Tuesday night for a doubleheader at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fla. with Stockton (4:30pm) and UMass Boston (7pm).
