ORLANDO, Fla. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team battled back from a 2-1 deficit to take a 4-2 lead, but the Engineers dropped a 5-4 decision to the University of Scranton in a non-league match at the USTA National Campus. The Engineers, who beat Agnes Scott College earlier in the day (8-1), fall to 4-3. Scranton improves to 8-2.
The Royals won two of the three doubles matches, but RPI's
Tess Lubin, Nisha Rajamohan and
Andrea Valencia captured Nos. 2, 3 and 4 in straight sets for the lead. The next two matches to finish, No. 5 and No. 6, both went to three sets, which Scranton came back to win, 0-6, 6-3, 10-6 and 4-6, 6-2, 10-6, respectively.
