GAMEDAY: The Engineers play their third consecutive home game when they welcome No. 16 Vassar to Harkness Field.

LEAGUE GAME: After playing six non-conference games to start the season, RPI plays its first Liberty League contest against the Brewers ... This is also Vassar's first league game.

SECOND STRAIGHT: This year is the second straight these two teams have started conference play against one another.

THE LIBERTY LEAGUE: Rensselaer plays seven conference games, with four being in Troy.

PAST 10: Since 2008, RPI has played Rochester, Union, St. Lawrence, Skidmore (4 times), William Smith (twice) and Vassar in its initial conference game.

2017 CONFERENCE: The Engineers won three of its seven Liberty League games last season ... They defeated St. Lawrence (3-2), Union (4-0) and Ithaca (2-1 OT).

AGAINST VASSAR LAST YEAR: Vassar got two goals from Emily Poehlein and the Brewers scored the last four tallies of the contest to win 5-1 over RPI in Poughkeepsie ... Liz Rotolo stopped five shots in earning the win ... Rachel Kaufman stopped 11 shots for the visitors, who added five defensive saves, including two each from Christina Hanos and Lauren Hiltz ... Charisse Stakutis has Rensselaer's goal.

ALL-TIME VS. BREWERS: The Engineers are 21-15-1 all-time against Vassar ... The first meeting came in 1981, which Rensselaer won, 1-0.

IN TROY: RPI is 12-6 versus the Brewers in Troy, including a 1-0 win in 2016, the most recent meeting on Harkness Field.

IN 2016: Nicole Clancy scored the game's only goal with nine minutes remaining in regulation and the Engineers defeated Vassar, 1-0 ... The game was the final Liberty League contest of the season for both teams ... Kayla Bell earned the win by making five saves ... Paige Amico had three stops on the other end.

LAST 10: RPI is 7-3 in its last 10 contests with Vassar, though the Brewers have been victorious in three of the most recent four.

CLOSE CALLS: Four of the last five games between Rensselaer and Vassar have been 1-goal games, including three with 1-0 final scores.

NATIONALLY-RANKED: The Brewers are one of five Engineers opponents who are listed in this week's NFHCA Coaches Poll ... Middlebury is No. 1, Montclair is No. 9, Rochester is No. 10, Hamilton is No. 14 and Vassar is No. 16 ... Endicott, who RPI played on Sept. 8, is first among the schools receiving votes.
