Men's Soccer Kicks Off League Play Saturday (4pm)

LIBERTY LEAGUE OPENER
The Engineers begin conference play on Saturday afternoon against Bard at East Campus Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 4pm.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Rensselaer is 14-1-1 all-time against Bard, dating back to their first ever meeting on October 3, 1929 – a 3-2 Engineers victory. The Raptors' lone triumph came on October 1, 1932 – a 4-1 win. RPI is 6-0-1 in Liberty League play.

ENGINEERS FALL AT KEENE STATE
Keene State came back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Engineers, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon in non-league action. Austin Betterly opened the scoring for RPI in the 21st minute with a curling shot from outside the area, before the Owls drew even in the 33rd. Keene netted the game-winner in the 87th minute.

IN LIBERTY LEAGUE OPENERS
RPI has a 7-8-1 record all-time in Liberty League openers, including a 7-3 mark over the last 10. The Engineers have opened conference play at home just once in the last six years – a 1-0 victory over Skidmore in 2014. Rensselaer has faced Bard in two of the last three openers.

RPI LEADERS
Freshman Billy Chissoe (2 goals) and sophomore Michael Harten (2 goals) are tied for the team lead with four points. Six others have a goal for the Engineers, including junior Austin Betterly, who has taken a team-best 12 shots.

GOALKEEPING
Junior Matt LaBranche is 2-3-1 with a 1.03 goals against average and a .769 save percentage, with one combined shutout.

SCOUTING THE RAPTORS
Bard (3-4-1) is paced offensively by Naka O'Connor (4 goals, 1 assist) with nine points. Isaac Yelchin (2 goals) has four points, while Hunter Davenport (1 goal, 1 assist) has three. Goalkeeper Logan Leppo has played every minute this year, going 3-4-1 with a 0.96 goals against average and an .897 save percentage.

LAST TIME VS. BARD
Brandon Pirog scored in the 92nd minute to send the Engineers home with a 3-2 overtime victory on September 23, 2017. The tally was Pirog's second of the game, with Austin Betterly netting RPI's opener. Nick Shenberger scored both goals for Bard in the contest, including the tying tally in the 89th minute.
