SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -
Sean O'Connor finished first and
Grant O'Connor was second and the two seniors led the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's cross country team to first place in the Saratoga Invitational, which Rensselaer hosted at Saratoga Spa State Park. The Engineers, who are ranked No. 3 in the latest USTFCCCA Poll, had seven of the top 18 finishers and had 26 points. No. 6 Williams College was second with 65 points and No. 26 St. Lawrence University was third with 107.
Coming off a National Athlete of the Week award following his victory in the Purple Valley Classic last weekend,
Sean O'Connor again beat the field, completing the 8K course in 25:03.4 (5:03 pace). He was nine seconds in front of
Grant O'Connor, who finished with a time of 25:12.6, which was a 5:05 pace. Junior
Joe Domanico ran third for RPI and sixth overall with a time of 25:43.1 (5:11).
Rensselaer's next three finishers all crossed the line in order with
Noah Falasco in eighth (25:49.0), Jacob Davis in ninth (25:49.6) and
Jake Kloman in tenth (25:51.1).
RPI is idle next weekend and returns to competition on October 13 at Rowan University.
