RIVALRY WEEKEND
Rensselaer takes on area-rival Union College in a pair of ECAC Hockey contests this weekend, beginning on Friday at the Houston Field House. Puck drop is scheduled for 6pm. The two teams then meet on Saturday at the Times Union Center for a 3pm start.
RPI CLIPS SLU IN OVERTIME
Junior
Blake Orosz scored 11 seconds into overtime to lift the Engineers to a 3-2 victory over St. Lawrence on Saturday at the Houston Field House.
Lovisa Selander made 30 saves to earn the win in net, while Sonjia Shelly had 23 at the other end of the ice.
ALL-TIME VS. THE DUTCHWOMEN
RPI owns a 32-4-5 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to February 6, 1996 – a 6-1 Engineers victory in Schenectady. Union picked up its first ever conference game win last season, 2-1, at Messa Rink. Rensselaer is 20-1-1 in ECAC Hockey play and 25-2-4 at home in the series.
RECENTLY
Rensselaer is 9-1-2 over the last 12 meetings, including 5-0-0 at the Houston Field House. Union won a non-league contest at in Troy, 3-2, on October 20, 2012. Prior to that, the Dutchwomen hadn't won a game in the series since 2004.
TOUGH AT HOME
RPI has a 6-3-3 record at the Houston Field House after starting the season unbeaten in five straight (3-0-2). The streak was the longest in school history to start a campaign. The Engineers haven't finished a season with a winning record at home since 2009-10, when they went 7-6-4.
