Women's Hockey Set for Mayor's Cup Clash

RIVALRY RESCHEDULED
Rensselaer and Union complete their 2018-19 season series on Tuesday afternoon at the Times Union Center for the Second Annual Mayor's Cup. Puck drop is set for 4pm.

RPI BLANKS BROWN
Junior Kendra Farole scored her first collegiate goal and senior captain Lovisa Selander stopped all 41 shots she faced to earn her third shutout of the season, as the Engineers defeated Brown, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.

ALL-TIME VS. THE DUTCHWOMEN
RPI owns a 33-4-5 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to February 6, 1996 – a 6-1 Engineers victory in Schenectady. Union picked up its first ever conference game win last season, 2-1, at Messa Rink. Rensselaer is 21-1-1 in ECAC Hockey play and 25-2-4 at home in the series.

RECENTLY
Rensselaer is 10-1-2 over the last 13 meetings, including 6-0-0 at the Houston Field House. Union won a non-league contest at in Troy, 3-2, on October 20, 2012. Prior to that, the Dutchwomen hadn't won a game in the series since 2004.

RPI LEADERS
Juniors Blake Orosz has 10 goals and nine assists for a team-high 19 points in 24 games. Classmate Sabrina Repaci (6 goals, 11 assists) is right behind her with 17. Senior Jaimie Grigsby (5 goals, 10 assists) rounds out the top three scorers with 15 points.

IN NET
Senior captain Lovisa Selander is 8-9-5 with a 1.86 goals against average and a .948 save percentage as the starter in 22 games. Classmate Kira Bombay is 2-1-0 with a 1.60 goals against average and a .951 save percentage in five games (3 starts).

NATIONAL LEADER
Selander leads the country in save percentage (.948) and is second in total saves (727). She is also 17th in goals against average (1.86).

PACING THE DUTCHWOMEN
Senior Arianna Kosakowski (4 goals, 7 assists) has a team-best 11 points, while junior Katelynn Russ (4 goals, 5 assists) has nine. Classmate Rachel de Perio (4 goals, 4 assists) rounds out the top three with eight points.

UNION IN GOAL
Junior Amelia Murray (2-9-2) has a 3.15 goals against average and a .908 save percentage in 15 games. Sophomore Coco Francis (1-9-0) has a 3.88 goals against average and an .877 save percentage.

ALL-TIME RECORD CHASING
Senior goaltender Lovisa Selander's 3,662 career saves ranks first in school history and second in NCAA history, just 147 behind Brianne McLaughlin (Robert Morris '09), who holds the NCAA mark.
