Beavers shut out Engineers, 2-0

TROY, N.Y. – Junior Mak Langei assisted on both goals to help the Bemidji State women's hockey team to a 2-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), on Friday afternoon at the Houston Field House. With the win, the Beavers improve to 6-8-1 overall, while the Engineers drop to 0-15-1.

Bemidji opened the scoring at 5:52 of the first period, when junior Claire DeGeorge (Anchorage, AK) stuck home a rebound on the doorstep for her second goal of the season. Senior Haley Mack (East Grand Forks, MN) and Langei (East Grand Forks, MN).

Senior Jacqueline Kaasa (North Hudson, WI) doubled the visitors' advantage at 8:49 of the second, tapping home feed from Langei at the left post for her second goal of the year. On the power play, the Beavers worked a give-and-go the right point, before Langei found Kaasa cutting to the net for the tally. Senior Kiki Radke (Hastings, MN) earned the secondary helper on the play.

The Engineers, who were held without a shot in the opening period, registered four in the second and two in the third. Bemidji junior goaltender Lauren Bench (Eagan, MN) earned her second shutout of the year and eighth of her career by stopping six.
