TROY, N.Y. – Lydia Passolt scored two goals to lead the Bemidji State University women's hockey team to a 5-1 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Saturday afternoon at the Houston Field House. With the win, the Beavers improve to 7-8-1, while the Engineers drop to 0-16-1.
After two early chances for the Engineers were turned away by junior goaltender Kerigan Dowhy, Passolt got the scoring started for the visitors at 9:31 of the first period. Skating into the offensive zone on the left wing, she took a shot that kicked back to her by RPI freshman goaltender Ena Nystrom. Passolt tucked home the rebound inside the near post for her first on the afternoon.
Blueliner Mak Langei doubled the lead at 16:11 of the opening frame, firing a shot off an RPI defender and into the net from the right circle. Clair DeGeorge sent a cross-ice feed from the left to Langei, who collected her second goal of the season.
Just 1:01 into the second, captain Haley Mack potted her team leading eighth goal of the season on a shorthanded rush. Skating right to left across the top of the RPI zone, she wired a wrist shot inside the right post. Helpers went to Briana Jorde and Tina Kampa.
Passolt pushed the Beavers lead to 4-0 at 4:03 of the second, when she ripped home her second of the game and sixth of the season from the top of the right circle. Taking a feed from Abby Halluska. Kiki Radke had the second assist on the play.
Paige Beebe blasted home her fourth goal of the year at 1:13 of the third on a one-timer from the right circle. Heather Olson and DeGeorge had the helpers on the play that made it 5-0.
The Engineers got on the board at 9:29 of the final stanza, when freshman
Sarah Bukvic stuck back her own rebound at the right side of the crease for a power play tally. Her second of the season drew assists from classmate

Dowy (2-2-0) finished with 18 saves for the Beavers, while freshman Ena Nystrom (0-11-1) had 12 stops over the opening 24:03, before being relived by classmate
Amanda Rampado, who had 20 stops to close out the game.
RPI is back in action next weekend, when it visits North Country rivals No. 7 Clarkson and St. Lawrence. The Beavers host St. Cloud State for a pair on Friday and Saturday.
