Engineers conclude regular season with home games this weekend

HOME FINALE WEEKEND
Rensselaer hosts a pair of nationally-ranked opponents to close out their regular season schedule this weekend, when No. 4 Cornell and No. 9 Colgate visit the Houston Field House on Friday (6pm) and Saturday (3pm), respectively.

ENGINEERS TOP NO. 5 PRINCETON
Freshmen Lilli Friis-Hansen and Aliyah Lance each tallied and senior captain Lovisa Selander made 57 saves to lead RPI to a 2-1 road victory over then-fifth-ranked Princeton on Saturday afternoon, clinching a slot in the 2019 ECAC Hockey Tournament. 

ALL-TIME VS. CORNELL
The Big Red lead the all-time series 21-7-0, including 18-7-0 in ECAC Hockey play. The Engineers are 4-8-0 at home against Cornell, with two wins in their last three at the Houston Field House.

RECENTLY
Cornell is 7-3-0 in the last 10 meetings, including four straight victories. The Engineers had a three-game winning streak from October 30, 2015 to October 28, 2016.

FEBRUARY 2, 2019
Kristin O'Neill netted a hat trick to lead the Big Red to a 5-0 victory over RPI at Lynah Rink. Senior Lovisa Selander finished with 48 saves for the Engineers, while Marlene Boissonnault had 11 at the other end of the ice.

TOUGH AT HOME
RPI has an 8-4-3 record at the Houston Field House after starting the season unbeaten in five straight (3-0-2). The streak was the longest in school history to start a campaign. The Engineers haven't finished a season with a winning record at home since 2009-10, when they went 7-6-4.

RPI LEADERS
Juniors Blake Orosz has 13 goals and nine assists for a team-high 22 points in 31 games. Classmate Sabrina Repaci (7 goals, 11 assists) is right behind her with 18. Senior Jaimie Grigsby (5 goals, 10 assists) rounds out the top three scorers with 15 points.

IN NET
Senior captain Lovisa Selander is 11-13-5 with a 2.07 goals against average and a .945 save percentage as the starter in 29 games, including three shutouts. Classmate Kira Bombay is 2-1-0 with a 1.60 goals against average and a .951 save percentage in five games (3 starts).

PATTY KAZMAIER TOP 10
Senior goaltender and captain Lovisa Selander was named one of the 10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, giving annually to the top Division I women's hockey player. The only goaltender on the list, she joins four others from ECAC Hockey teams.

Senior goaltender Lovisa Selander's 3,947 saves are the most in NCAA Division I history. She is 53 shy of 4,000 stops with two regular season and at least two playoff games remaining.

NATIONAL LEADERS
RPI senior Lovisa Selander leads the nation in save percentage (.945) and total saves (1,012). Cornell's Kristin O'Neill is third nationally in goals per game (0.78), while O'Neill and Maddie Mills are tied for second with seven power play tallies.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Sophomore Maddie Mills leads Cornell with 35 points on 16 goals and 19 assists. Juniors Kristin O'Neill (19 goals, 10 assists) and Jaime Bourbonnais (8 goals, 17 assists) are right behind with 29 and 25 points, respectively.

BIG RED GOALTENDING
Senior Marlene Boissonnault (15-3-4) has started 22 of the team's 27 games this season, posting a 1.72 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. Sophomore Lindsay Browning (3-0-2) has a 1.26 goals against average and a .948 save percentage in six games (5 starts). Boissonnault has six shutouts, while Browning has one.
