AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Three players had three hits for the Gwynedd Mercy University baseball team in a 13-3 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), on Wednesday morning at Lake Myrtle Complex. With the win, the Griffins improve to 3-5, while the Engineers drop to 2-3.
RPI scored the game's first two runs in the bottom of the first, when sophomore first baseman

The Griffins answered with a three-run top of the second, scoring one run on a double down the left field line by Sachael Sciarretta, before two more came home on a wild pitch.
A bases loaded walk to
Richard Drum in the bottom of the frame pull the Engineers even at 3-3, but Gwynedd Mercy came right back to take the lead for good in the top fo the third, plating a single run a sacrifice fly by first baseman Evan Miller.
In the top of the fourth, the Griffins took advantage of a error to score two runs, before an RBI-single by Ryan Keen made it a 7-3 game.
Keen tacked on an eighth run in the top of the sixth, reaching on an infield single that brought home Nick Mulvey from second after another Engineers miscue.
Gwynedd Mercy put the game out of reach in the eighth, scoring five runs on six hits. Dave Tatoian led off the frame with a triple and the next five batters reached, including four on base hits. After Justin Curtin plated a run with a single to left, Sciarretta capped the scoring with an RBI-groundout.Â
Griffins starting pitcher Bryan Kaelin (1-2) allowed just three runs (2 earned) on eight hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out one and walked three. Matt Pallotta worked the final 2.1, surrending a single hit with three strikeouts.
RPI saw seven pitchers toe the rubber in its final Spring Break contest, including sophomore
Mike Tagaris, who allowed one unearned on three hits over 2.0 innings. He struck out one and did not walk a batter. Junior
Erick Zecha (0-2) suffered the defeat, giving up three unearned runs in 1.2 innings of relief.Â
The Engineers are back in action on March 12, when they host SUNY Cobleskill at Robison Field (4pm). Gwynedd Mercy takes on Wartburg College at 1pm today.
