Women's Lacrosse Earns Road League Win

Engineers net double-digit goals in first half; coast to 15-8 win at Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Nine different players found the back of the net for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team in defeating Bard College, 15-8, today at Ferrari Field. With the win, the Engineers improve to 7-5 overall (4-5 Liberty League), while the Raptors drop to 4-9 (0-8 Liberty League).

After the two teams traded a pair of early goals, the Engineers went on a 7-0 run to open up a 9-2 advantage. Senior Maddie Aslansan had two tallies during the run, which spanned more than 13 minutes of play. Junior Liz Brady collected assists on three of the goals, while seniors Lauren Guiry and Abbey Salvon also had helpers.

Bard finished the half on a 3-1 run, with tallies coming from Rachel Yoder, Melissa Rosenthal and Dylan McDonald, cutting the deficit to 10-5 at the break.

In the second half, RPI potted the first three goals to push its advantage to 13-5. Ellie Henn, Erin Goodwin and Brady all scored in the first 10 minutes of the frame, before the Raptors were able to end the run on a man-up goal from Rosenthal.

Michelle Bolger made it 14-6 off another Brady assist to give the visitors a 14-6 lead with 5:33 to go. The Raptors then netted two of the final three goals, sandwiching a tally by RPI sophomore Lexi Dechiario.

Senior Aleena Milinski (7-5) made 11 saves in the first 53:33 of the game before giving way to Maya Manchester, who did not register a stop. Roxanne Roukas took the loss for Bard, making five saves in the first half, before Izabel Kickner had five stops over the final 30 minutes.

Rensselaer is back in action next Saturday, when it hosts St. Lawrence University for Senior Day (12pm). The Raptors head to Vassar College on Tuesday (6pm).
