ONEONTA, N.Y. - After dropping only four games in the three doubles matches, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team swept the singles in straight sets to defeat Oneonta 9-0 in a non-league dual match. The Engineers improve to 2-0, while the Red Dragons fall to 7-2.
RPI won No. 1 and No. 3 doubles by scores of 8-1 and took No. 2 by an 8-2 margin. Five of those student-athletes went on to win in singles, including
Alex Mednikova 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1,
Chloe Barr 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and
Krisia Flores 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.
Nitya Subramaniam posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
The Engineers are back on the court on Friday when they play at Skidmore College in the Liberty League opener for both teams. Match time is 5pm.
