TROY, N.Y. - Senior
Emily Mayoras and sophomore
Megan Beaulieu both touched the wall first in two individual events and had a pair of relay wins, while three of their teammates had multiple victories as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team defeated Union College 200-98 in a dual meet at Robison Pool. The Engineers have now won four straight to improve to 4-2, while the Dutchwomen fall to 2-4.
On Senior Night, Mayoras began the competition by swimming the anchor on the 200 medley relay team, which won by three seconds. She then won the 50 free and 100 free before helping to conclude the night by swimming second on the 200 free relay team that won by nearly six seconds.
Beaulieu was the first swimmer on the medley relay team and the anchor on the 200 free team. In between she won the 200 freestyle and the 200 backstroke.
Kat Lopez swam second in the first event and then won the 100 breaststroke and the 100 butterfly.
Gwyneth Yuen swam third on the 200 free relay afters she had a win of less than a second in the 100 backstroke (1:02.01 - 1:02.65).
Senior
Jessica Kugelman won the 1-meter competition and then came back to take the 3-meter event by nearly 62 points over the runner-up (273.75 - 211.30).
Rensselaer is right back in the pool on Saturday at noon when it hosts the RPI Kumpf Invitational.
