Women's Hockey Blanked at Dartmouth, 4-0

Nystrom saves 33 in ECAC Hockey road defeat

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's hockey kicked off the New Year with a 4-0 victory over visiting Rensselaer on Friday evening. Freshman netminder Hannah Humphreys had her first collegiate shutout, making 14 saves to earn the win.

Senior Bailee Brekke, and rookies Catherine Trevors and Celine Pietraszek all had two-point games. Also ending up on the scoresheet were senior Christina Rombaut, sophomores Katerina Dajia and Lotti Odnoga, and freshman CC Bowlby.

Trevors opened scoring at 2:46 of the first and Pietraszek found the back of the net two minutes later. Dartmouth (5-7-2, 2-4-2 ECAC HOckey) kept trying to score another, eventually having to settle for a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.

RPI (0-19-1, 0-9-0 ECAC Hockey) looked stronger in the second period, hitting the post early and almost catching up in shots by the midway point. The Green turned the momentum around and had some nice chances but were unable to get past goalie Ena Nystrom until almost the last second. With 16.9 ticks to go, Bowlby scored, using a defender as a screen to make it a 3-0 game.

Pietraszek added a one-timer tally at 2:27 of the third, further increasing Dartmouth's lead. The Big Green had a 13-3 shot advantage in the final 20 minutes.

Dartmouth outshot RPI, 37-14. Neither team was able to score with the extra player.

The Big Green will be back in action at 3pm on Saturday to face Union. RPI travels to Harvard tomorrow afternoon (3pm).
