Women's Hockey Defeated at Harvard, 3-0

Crimson net goal in each period to stay perfect in ECAC Hockey play

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior Becky Dutton stopped all 21 shots she faced to lead the Harvard University women's hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), on Saturday afternoon at Bright-Landry Hockey Center. With the win, the Crimson improve to 10-4-0 overall (9-0-0 ECAC Hockey), while the Engineers drop to 0-20-1 (0-10-0 ECAC Hockey).

Dutton recorded her first collegiate shutout with 10 saves in the first period, six in the second and five in the third. Freshman Ena Nystrom had 37 stops at the other end of the ice, including 17 in the middle frame alone.

Anne Bloomer opened the scoring for the hosts at 13:44 of the opening stanza, burying the rebound of a shot by Kristin Della Rovere for her ninth goal of the season. Emma Buckles collected the second assist on the eventual game-winning tally.

Dominique Petrie doubled the Crimson advantage at 15:44 of the second on the power play. Della Rovere once again provided the primary helper, as her shot was turned away by Nystrom, but carom fell to Petrie for the finish - her 10th of the year.

Harvard capped the scoring at 8:48 of the third on Maryna Macdonald's first goal of the season. Brooke Jovanovich and Petrie earned the helpers on the third marker for the Crimson.

RPI is back in action next weekend, when it hosts Colgate and Cornell on Friday (3pm) and Saturday (3pm), respectively. Harvard resumes its four-game homestand against Quinnipiac and Princeton next weekend.
