ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The No. 34 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team saw six student-athletes go 2-0 and the Engineers swept the No. 37 University of Rochester 9-0 in a non-league road match. Rensselaer improves to 2-0, while the Yellowjackets drop to 1-1.
Though it won all nine matches, RPI did have to win third sets and tiebreakers, including two by
Zack Ebenfeld. He and playing partner
Eddie Wu captured No. 2 doubles 8-7 (2) and the senior closed out the match with a 7-6 (5), 3-6, 11-9 win at No. 5 singles. Freshman
Abraham Yohannes went to a third set at No. 4, winning 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (5) and sophomore
Yudai Teruyama won 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 at No. 3.
