Favorite sports memory during career?
"I really enjoyed my running success sophomore year, specifically running two massive PRs in the 5K in track. I felt like I was part of something great as everyone seemed to make huge leaps and bounds in the 5K that season. The team comradery was another one of my favorite parts. We would take road trips out to nationals to cheer on our teammates who were competing, sometimes driving more than 35 hours round trip to watch a 25 minute race. These experiences were very memorable and it was amazing to spend them with a great group of people." - April 2020
What makes Rensselaer so special?
"The team atmosphere we had was great to promote hard work and ensure improvements for everyone. RPI's cross country team constantly was ranked in one of the top few places in the country throughout the past few years and it was great to be part of that. On top of running, the challenging academic programs have been great to prepare people for future careers and success." - April 2020
What are your post-graduation plans?
"I plan on working at an engineering or product development company. The academics have given me the skills to pursue endless possibilities from here and I hope the products I design in the future could help change the world for the better." - April 2020
From the coaching staff:
"Ryan had a great freshman year at RPI and set the stage for what we hoped to be a very bright four years. He had some abilities we really valued when it came to racing and they really came out his sophomore year as he moved up from middle distance to distance. Unfortunately, Ryan was unable to handle the workload physically and had some injury issues but he never gave up hope that he would be able to return to running. His positive outlook toward the future was something to be valued and I wish he was able to see it through in his senior outdoor season." - March 2020
What others say:
"Ryan had a really tough time throughout his four years as a runner. He was constantly battling injuries, but when he was healthy enough to run he really showed the potential that he had. I think Ryan's most memorable race for RPI will be one that never got officially recorded. A post-season 3000m time trial his sophomore year. After the Liberty League Championship that season, those who did not qualify for the Regional Championship raced each other while still in peak shape to try and get some personal bests. Going into the race. no one picked Ryan as even being a contender. He probably had 1000/1 odds on him finishing top 5 ... Well, Ryan shocked the RPI Cross Country program that day by running 8:49 to outkick everyone and take home the victory. It will go down as his greatest race that never "officially" happened." - March 2020
"One of the most clever and creative people I've met. A truly fascinating person." - April 2020
