ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Midfielder Erin Allor had a goal and an assist and goalkeeper Darcie Jones stopped all five shots she faced and the RIT women's soccer team defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 3-0 in a Liberty League contest.
Chris Cataldo-Smith scored in the eighth minute for the homestanding Tigers (7-2-3, 2-1-2 Liberty League) with a low shot into the left side of the net. Jessica Wagner had an assist on the goal, the ninth of the season for Cataldo-Smith.
The score remained 1-0 until the 72nd minute when Allor buried a shot high into the right of the net. She then had a helper on a goal by Elle Hallock in the 89th minute.
Davie had three saves in the first half and two in the second. Rensselaer's
Megan Wampner matched those numbers on the other end.
RIT registered 18 shots with eight on goal and nine corner kicks, while the Engineers had seven shots (5 on goal) and four corners.
Gwen Barnes had two shots on goal for the visitors.
Both teams play on Saturday with RPI (4-3-4; 1-2-2 Liberty League) facing No. 7 William Smith and the Tigers hosting Skidmore. Both games begin at 2pm.
