TROY, N.Y. - Eight student-athletes earned multiple individual victories and four of them also swam on victorious relay teams as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's and men's swimming & diving teams both defeated Vassar College in dual meets at Robison Pool. The women, who had three first-year swimmers earn multiple individual wins, won 164-112, while the men triumphed 175-100.

Freshmen Colleen Whittaker and Shannon Brown both boasted four first place finishes. Brown won the 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle, along with helping the 200 medley relay team to victory by swimming the anchor leg. Whittaker swam third on the 200 medley relay team and second on the 400 free relay. She added wins in both the 200 butterfly and the 200 breaststroke in between. 

Gabriella Crother-Collado had three wins on the afternoon, capturing the 1000 free and 500 free, along with the 400 free relay. Junior Ola Nawrocki also had a trio of wins with one coming as an individual (100 breaststroke) and two on the relays. She swam second on the 200 medley and third in the 400 free.

From the diving board, Amy Carosi won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, as did Matt Abraham in the men's competition.

Alex Aung, Aleksey Makarov and Mike Dowd paced the men's swimmers with three wins apiece.

Aung had victories in the 200 fly and 100 fly, while also swimming on the 400 free relay team that was first to touch the wall. Makarov was on the victorious 200 medley relay team and then won the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Dowd was also part of the winning relays and he captured the 200 freestyle.

Daniel Savidge won the 100 and 200 backstrokes for RPI, which improved to 3-2 with three consecutive victories. Rensselaer's women's team is now 4-1 wi.
