TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced its year-end award winners from women's soccer and two Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes have been recognized.
Whitney Wisnom was named to the Second Team, while
Meghan Huang garnered Honorable Mention.
A senior striker from Hillsborough, Calif., Wisnom started all 15 games for the Engineers this season, leading the team in almost every offensive category, including goals (7), assists (3), points (17), shots (50), shots on goal (23) and game-winning goals (2).
In nine Liberty League games, she had four goals and two assists for 10 points, with 29 shots (16 on goal). Two of her game-winning tallies came in conference play. The former Design Tech standout had a seven-game point streak from September 12 to October 9, where she accumulated five goals and three assists.
In 49 career games at all – all starts – Wisnom scored 14 goals and dished out seven assists for 35 points. She totaled a school-record 197 shots (81 on goal), with five game-winning goals. Her 4.02 shots per game is almost a program record.
A senior centerback from Mountain View, Calif., Huang anchored the Engineers back line, starting all 15 games in 2021. RPI allowed 1.4 goals per game on the season on 110 shots on goal. Offensively, she had three shots (1 on goal).
Huang played in 45 games in three season at RPI, including 19 as a starter. She scored on goal for two points, with 21 shot attempts (11 on goal).
The Engineers went 5-6-4 overall this season, including a 2-5-2 mark in Liberty League play.
