TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey scored three unanswered goals to defeat Dartmouth College, 3-1, on Friday night at Thompson Arena. With the win, the Engineers improve to 6-12-0 (3-6-0 ECAC Hockey), while the Big Green drop to 4-7-0 (2-6-0 ECAC Hockey).
Trailing 1-0 in the second period, sophomore
Nyah Philip netted her first collegiate goal to RPI even at 1-1. The goal, which came at 1:40 of the frame, drew a lone assist from
Audrey McCutcheon.
McCutcheon then gave the Engineers a 2-1 lead 16:52 of the middle frame, from junior
Marah Wagner and sophomore
Ellie Kaiser.
Sophomore Maddie Papineau added an insurance marker at 10:32 of the third, with senior
Delaney Weiss collecting the assist. The goal was the first of Papineau's collegiate career.
Dartmouth opened the scoring at 12:45 of the first, when Catherine Trevors took a feed from Currie Puhtrah and beat RPI junior netminder
Amanda Rampado for a 1-0 lead. Sydney Herrington earned the secondary assist on the goal.
Rampado (5-12-0) finished with 20 saves to earn the victory, while Maggie Emerson had 23 stops at the other end of the ice.
RPI is back in action tomorrow afternoon, when they visit No. 8 Harvard (3pm). Dartmouth hosts Union tomorrow (3pm).
