TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team managed just one field goal in the first quarter in falling behind 16-2 after the first 10 minutes and the Engineers could not stage a comeback in a 63-41 loss to Union College at East Campus Arena. RPI is now 3-11 overall and 2-7 in the Liberty League, while the Dutchwomen improve to 5-10 and 3-6.

Ashlyn O'Neil scored on a jumper midway through the frame. The Dutchwomen answered with the final seven points of the first quarter for a 14-point lead.Â
Rensselaer pulled to within 10 points early in the second quarter thanks to baskets by
Lolo Reynolds,
Heather Converse and
Nicole DaPra, but the visitors put six straight points on the scoreboard for a 24-8 lead. Following another Converse basket, Union went on a 7-0 run for a 31-10 advantage before heading to the locker room holding a 31-13 margin.Â
The Dutchwomen outscored RPI by four points in the third quarter (14-10) before both teams tallied 18 points in the final stanza.
Reynolds had a team-high 12 points with DaPra (11) and O'Neil (10) also reaching double figures. O'Neil added a team-high seven rebounds, while Reynolds had two rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Union was led by Amber Raisner's 16 points and a nine-point, 10-rebound effort from Megan Lee. The Dutchwomen forced 22 turnovers with the help of 14 steals, including three each from Olivia Pachla and Anna Metcalf.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday afternoon at 2pm with Rensselaer hosting Ithaca College and Union visiting Skidmore College.
