Ellie Kaiser had a goal and an assist,
Marah Wagner registered two assists, and
Amanda Rampado stopped all 29 shots she faced as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team posted a 3-0 win over Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). It was the second shutout in as many days for the Engineers over the Tigers.
After a scoreless 30 minutes to open the contest, the Engineers erupted for three goals in a span of 5:14 to take command. Kaiser notched her first of the season at the 10:20 mark with
Asiah Taylor-Walters following with her first just 2:09 later. Kaiser and Wagner, who had the primary assist on the first goal, then set upÂ
Magdalena Erbenova on the power play to close out the scoring.Â
Rampado made the goals stand by stopping nine shots in the first and second periods and then 11 in the third. She had 13 saves in a 2-0 win on Friday.
Sarah Coe finished with 27 saves - nine in each period - for the Tigers, who 2 for 3 on the penalty kill. They did not have any power plays.
RPI, which is now 2-6-0, begins ECAC Hockey play with a trip to the North Country next weekend. RIT begins College Hockey America action at Syracuse on Friday.
