ITHACA, N.Y. - Daniel Savidge had three individual victories and Tony Min had two to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's swimming & diving team to a two-point victory, 148-146, over Ithaca College in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon. The Bombers women defeated RPI 187-112 despite multiple wins from a pair from the Engineers.
A junior, Savidge won the 1000 free, 200 backstroke, and 200 individual medley to pace the visitors. Min was victorious in 200 butterfly by nearly four seconds (1:55.79 - 1:59.63) and the 100 fly, while also swimming leadoff on the winning 200 medley relay team. He was joined on the relay by Nicholas Stefanidis, Lorenzo Gurri and Mike Dowd and they combined for a finishing time of 1:35.82.
Dowd went on to win the 200 free and Stefanidis captured the 100 breaststroke in 59.78. He was the only swimmer to break a minute as the runner-up touched in 1:01.44.
RPI's
Chloe Jepson took the women's 100 breaststroke as well as the 200 breast, winning the latter by two seconds (2:27.06 - 2:29.67).
Gabriela Crother-Collado also had two wins for Rensselaer as she was first in the 1000 free and 500 free, while
Shannon Brown was victorious in the 200 free in a time of 1:57.36. The second place finisher had a time of 2:00.04.
The Engineers are back in the pool on November 6 when they host the College of Saint Rose and Oneonta at Robison Pool.
