TROY, N.Y. - After earning 14 points through nine Liberty League regular season contests, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team has qualified for the six-team conference tournament and will host Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) on Tuesday afternoon at 3pm at East Campus Stadium. The Engineers are the No. 4 seed and the Tigers are No. 5 with the winner advancing to the semifinals at No. 1 seed St. Lawrence University on Friday afternoon.
Rensselaer (6-6-5; 4-3-2 Liberty League), which is coached by
Adam Clinton, clinched its bid with a 3-0 victory over Clarkson University on Saturday and hosts RIT (7-4-5; 4-3-2), which it tied 1-1 on the road on October 14. RPI is the higher seed and home team based on the league's tiebreakers.
The Engineers, who average 1.24 goals per game and 1.00 goals against, are led offensively by graduate student
Paul Silva (Wayne, NJ / Seton Hall Prep.). A forward/midfielder, he has 10 goals and an assist for 21 points. Four of his goals have been game-winners and seven have come on penalty kicks.

Kyle Osborne (Cohasset, MA / Cohasset) is second on the squad in goals (5) and points (12) and first in shots (34) and shots on goal (21).Â
Defensively, RPI has posted four shutouts while allowing only one goal in nine other contests. Sophomore
Colin Such (Manassas, VA / Charles J. Colgan) and graduate student
Luke Brezak (Camano Island, WA / The Overlake School) have both played extensively with Such posting a 2-3-2 record with a 1.14 goals against average in seven games, all starts. Brezek is 4-3-3 with a 0.90 average and three shutouts in 10 contests.Â

In the first meeting with RIT, the Engineers got a penalty kick goal from Silva in the 77th minute that tied the game. Such had four saves, while Jason Trapp stopped three shots for the Tigers.
