BRIDGEWATER, MA – Despite a flurry of offense, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Women's Hockey team fell to the Stonehill Skyhawks by a final score of 3-1 Friday evening. RPI finished the game with a 40-18 advantage in shots.

Both sides played a scoreless first period before Stonehill opened the scoring with 8:40 to play in the second period. Mia Kenmore scored her first goal of the season in shorthanded fashion for the Skyhawks as she scored after a nifty move in the offensive zone to beat her defender to give Stonehill a 1-0 lead.

With four minutes to play in the second period, RPI tied the game when
Ellie Kaiser scored her fourth goal of the season on a wrist shot from the right wing circle that found the top left corner of the net. The goal capped the second period, sending the game tied into the third period.

The score stood 1-1 deep into the third, until Stonehill tallied the go-ahead goal with 2:33 remaining. Paige Whaley collected the score out of a faceoff on a one-time feed from behind the net. The Skyhawks added an empty netter with 32 seconds to play to seal the deal as the Engineers had multiple shots blocked down the stretch.

Amanda Rampado made 15 saves in net for the Engineers, while Hanna Zukow won her fifth game of the season making 39 saves.
Marah Wagner led the Engineers with a team-high six shots.

RPI returns to the ice tomorrow, Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. for their second of two road matchups with Stonehill.
