BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -
Ellie Kaiser and
Maddy Papineau both had a goal and an assist, three others found the back of the net, and
Amanda Rampado stopped all 19 shots she faced as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team defeated Stonehill College 5-0 in a non-league game. The Engineers avenge Friday's 3-1 loss to the Skyhawks and improve to 4-11-1, while Stonehill drops to 7-10-1.
RPI got on the board at 7:06 of the first period when it converted a power play opportunity.
Julia Blitz scored on a wrist shot from the right face off circle off assists from
Taylor Zahirnyi and Papineau and Kaiser tallied just over four minutes later.
Hannah Price, who had a shot from the top of the right face off circle stopped but not controlled, had the lone assist on the goal, Kaiser's team-leading fifth of the season.
Marah Wagner and Kaiser set up Rensselaer's third goal, a power play marker off a one-timer from
Nina Christof with 2:02 to play in the second period.
Marah Wagner also had an assist.
The Engineers added two goals in the third period while limiting Stonehill to just three shots on goal. Rampado stopped them all for her third shutout of the season. Hannah Zukow had 23 saves in a losing effort for the Skyhawks, who were unsuccessful on four power play chances.
