CAMBRIDGE, MA – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the opening day of the MIT Winter Invite on Friday. The men's team finished Friday's events ranked second among the five-team field with 156 total points, while the women's team finished third among a seven-team field with 99 total points.

For the women, Gabriell Crother-Collado (18:05.15) and
Emma Wojnarowski (18:10.49) finished sixth and seventh in the Women 1650 Yard Free. That followed the Women's 800 Yard Free, where RPI saw four teams compete. The top finishing team of
Shannon Brown,
Ola Nawrocki,
Alyssa Cahill, and
Megan Beaulieu placed seventh with a time of 7:49.61.

On the men's side, the Engineers lit up the Men's 1650 Yard Free with four of the top 10 finishes in the field, led by a Daniel Savidge (16:52.30) sixth-place finish. The men also sported four competing teams in the 800 Yard Free Relay, with the top finishing team -
Tony Min,
Anthony Acciani,
Jimmy Zhen, and
Mike Dowd – also finishing seventh with a time of 7:08.66. Min also competed in a 100 Yard Back Time Trial.

The Engineers return to the pool tomorrow for Day 2 of the MIT Winter Invite. Prelims kick the day off at 10 AM.
