CAMBRIDGE, MA – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) swimming teams ended their weekend at the MIT Winter Invite with third place finishes in the competition. In addition, the Engineers also competed in Troy as they hosted the second day of the Lets Go Diving Invitational at Robison Pool.

The women's team finished third among seven teams, scoring a total of 629 points, finishing behind Tufts and host MIT while coming in ahead of Wellesley College.

Leading the way was the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay team of
Alyssa Cahill,
Ola Nawrocki,
Colleen Whittaker, and
Shannon Brown who tied for fifth place with a score of 1:47.07. Whittaker and Brown tied for the highest individual finish of the day, with both coming in fourth in other events. Whittaker competed in the Women's 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 56.88 – coming just short of an NCAA B-Cut qualifying time. Brown swam in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle, putting up a time of 52.50.

Cahill also had a standout effort in the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke, finishing sixth with a time of 2:05.96.
Gabriela Crother-Collado (7
th) and
Emma Wojnarowski (10
th) each had top 10 finishes in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle, putting up times of 5:11.93 and 5:16.88, respectively.

The men's side finished third among a five-team field, scoring 849 total points – also finishing behind Tufts and host MIT. Junior
Mike Dowd led the individual efforts as he took home a seventh place finish in the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 46.77.
Dan Savidge led the Engineers in the Men's 500 Yard Freestyle, scoring an eighth place finish with a time of 4:48.43. Dowd also competed in the Men's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay event with
Ethan Gadbois,
Jake Fassora, and
Jimmy Zhen. The group finished eighth in the event with a time of 3:12.05.

At home in Troy, both men's and women's diving also competed in the in the Lets Go Diving Invitational at Robison Pool.
Shannon O'Hara and
Patricia Christensen finished fourth and fifth among eight divers in the Women's 1 Meter 11 Dive, while Matthew Abraham finished fourth in the Men's 3 Meter 11 Dive.

The Engineers return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 12 p.m. when RPI hosts the RPI Kumpf Invitational at Robison Pool.
