ITHACA, N.Y. - The 200 medley relay team of
Megan Beaulieu,
Ola Nawrocki,
Colleen Whittaker and
Shannon Brown finished first with the school record and Beaulieu had a runner-up finish in the 200 individual medley in helping the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team to third place at the 10-school, four-day Liberty League Championship taking place at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium on the campus of Ithaca College.
In the final event of the evening, Beaulieu opened the relay with a 27.53 in the backstroke, followed by Nawrocki's 29.27 in the breaststroke. Whittaker swam the butterfly in 25.27 before Brown closed with a 23.64 in the freestyle for a total time of 1:45.71. The squad was .18 in front of a team from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
Earlier in the program, Beaulieu, a senior, led a dominating performance by the Engineers in the 200 individual medley as four of the eight A finalists were from RPI. She swam a 2:08.15 to place second with teammates
Alyssa Cahill (2:08.45) and Brown (2:08.73) finishing directly behind.
Chloe Jepson was seventh with a time of 2:17.74.
Rensselaer also got a third place finish from
Gabriela Crother-Collado in the 500 freestyle, which she swam in 5:10.77. The freshman was only .02 from a runner-up finish.
Three individuals -
Megan Lewis (500 free),
Christina Cavalluzzo (50 free) and
Gwyneth Yuen (50 free) - and the relay team of Yuen, Jepsen, Cahill and
Mariam Tharwat each competed in the B finals of their respective events.
Ithaca leads the meet with 343 points, followed by RIT (327), Rensselaer (297) and Vassar College (205).
