ITHACA, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team earned 1214 points in the four-day, 10-school Liberty League Championship Meet and the Engineers finished in third place. The host Ithaca College won the title with 1,597 points, followed by Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and its 1,339 points. Vassar College was fourth with 1,055.5 points.
For the Engineers in Saturday's final, three student-athletes finished in the top seven of the 200 breaststroke, led by
Chloe Jepson's fourth place spot. She swam a 2:26.05 and was one place in front of teammate
Colleen Whittaker (2:26.98).
Ola Nawrocki was seventh with a 2:27.94.
Whittaker and Nawrocki both swam on the third place 400 free relay team, along with
Shannon Brown and
Megan Beaulieu. They had a time of 3:32.31 and were edged by .23 from being runner-up and less than a second from first.
Beaulieu had RPI's highest finish on the evening, coming in second in the 200 backstroke with an NCAA B-cut time of 2:03.11. Teammate
Alyssa Cahill was third in the event, touching the wall in 2:03.98.
Gabriela Crother-Collado also earned a third place finish when she finished the 1650 freestyle in 17:53.63, while Brown was fourth in the 100 free with a time of 52.76.
From the diving board,
Amy Carosi competed in the final and placed eighth with 361.95 points.
