TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes
Rani Jones and
Alex Mednikova have been selected as the Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week by the Liberty League, it has been announced. This is the third time this season the duo has been recognized.
In Rensselaer's lone match last week, a 7-2 win over conference foe Ithaca College in Troy on Saturday morning, Jones (New Market, MD / Oakdale) and Mednikova (Belle Mead, NJ / Montgomery) won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles against a tandem that included a junior and a freshman. It was one of two wins for RPI in doubles.
With the victory, Jones and Mednikova improved to 15-5 on the season, including 10-4 in dual matches, all while playing No. 1. They are a perfect 6-0 against Liberty League opposition and currently riding a five-match winning streak.
The pair, both of whom are captains, are ranked No. 8 in the Northeast Region, according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) listing, while the Engineers (11-7; 5-2 Liberty League) are 13th. Mednikova is No. 16 in singles.

Justin Roe, concludes its regular season on Tuesday at Bard College (4pm).Â
