TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team will have two captains in 2022-23, head coach Bryan Vines has announced. Seniors Amanda Rampado and Marah Wagner have been tabbed to serve in that role, both for the first time in their careers.

A goaltender, Rampado (Stoney Creek, ON / Stoney Creek Sabres) has played 44 career games. She has eight victories (8-33-0) with a 2.70 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. She set career-highs in every category in 2021-22, including games played (31), minutes (1790:43), saves (945), goals against average (2.38), save percentage (.930), wins (8), and shutouts (3).

She had at least 20 saves in every game she played last season with 30-or-more in 20 contests and 40-or-more in four. A Dean's Honor List in biomedical engineering major, she was the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week twice.

Rampado played 13 games in 2019-20 but the team did not compete in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wagner (Langley, BC / North American Hockey Academy), a forward, played her first season with the Engineers after transferring from Robert Morris University. An assistant captain in 2021-22, she was first on the team in goals (11), assists (10), and points (21) while playing all 32 games. Four of her goals came on the power play and one was shorthanded.

A biology major, Wagner was first in shots with 93 and blocked shots with 52, as well as face offs, winning 385 of 715.

While with the Colonials for two seasons, she had eight goals and seven assists in 61 games.

The Engineers, who posted a 9-23-0 record last season, have 10 seniors, 11 juniors, four sophomores, and four newcomers. They begin the campaign on Sunday at the Houston Field House with an exhibition game against the University of Montreal at 3pm. The Engineers begin regular season action at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
