MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team had two singles players and two doubles teams in the semifinals of the Middlebury Invitational but none advanced and the Engineers concluded the two-day tournament hosted by Middlebury College.
In the A Flight singles, both
Aiden Drover-Mattinen and
Andy Zhu competed in the semis, losing 7-5, 3-6, 10-4 and 6-4, 6-1 to opponents from Skidmore and Tufts, respectively. The RPI duo also played in the A Flight doubles semifinals but dropped an 8-6 decision.
In the B Flight doubles bracket,
Bryce Burnham and
Jonathan McMillan faced a pair from Tufts and lost in a tiebreak, 8-7 (3).
RPI returns to the courts this weekend in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional at Drew University in New Jersey.
