TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's swimming & diving began their weekend in the pool with a strong effort, taking a 187-104 dual meet victory over the Skidmore Throughbreads Saturday afternoon at Robison Pool.
Highlighting the event for the Engineers were multiple first place finishes, led by the first collegiate win for
Sam Ciegler in the Men's 1000 freestyle. Ciegler also earned a win in the in the 100 freestyle for two wins on the day.
Tony Min also took a pair of wins for the Engineers, collecting the top spot in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly.
Dan Savidge also took two individual wins, placing first in the 500 freestyle and 100 individual medley. Savidge also finished second in the 200 butterfly before he, Min,
Lorenzo Gurri, and
Nicholas Stefanidis took the top spot in the 200 medley relay.
In the diving portion,
Matt Abraham lit up the board with a pair of wins in the 1 meter dive and the 3 meter dive. In total, RPI won 15 of 16 events on the afternoon.
The Engineers return to action tomorrow, Sunday, January 22 at 1 p.m. when they head to Schenectady to take on Union in a dual meet.
