SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's swimming & diving team continued their strong 2023 in the pool, as they defeated the Union Dutchman by a 180-88 final score in a dual meet in Schenectady.
Highlighting the afternoon for the Engineers was a first place showing in both 1 meter and 3 meter diving from graduate student
Matt Abraham. Freshman
Thomas DePalo also scored a victory in the 100 yard breaststroke, marking his first collegiate win.
Individually, RPI put up multiple wins across many events – with highlights coming from
Joshua Collins in the 1000 yard freestyle, and
Ethan Gadbois in the 100 yard butterfly. Daniel Savidge took a win in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 54.86 for a win as well.
RPI also had the top two finishing groups in the 200 yard medley relay, with the squad of
Tony Min,
Jake Fassora,
Jimmy Zhen, and Niocholas Stefanidis taking the top spot.
RPI returns to action next Saturday, January 28 at 1 p.m. when they hit the pool in a dual meet with Hamilton College.
