SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team ended their weekend on a high note Sunday afternoon, as they defeated the Union Dutchman by a 197-71 final score in a dual meet in Schenectady.
Leading the way for the Engineers would be
Shannon Brown, as she recorded three first place finishes on the afternoon. She took the top spot in the 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke, and 100 yard breaststroke.
Erin Ingalls and
Shannon O'Hara also collected victories – with each of them earning their first collegiate victories in their events. Ingalls took first in the 100 yard fly, while O'Hara was victorious in the 1 meter dive.
RPI also saw winners in multiple other events, with notables from their 200 yard medley squad of
Ellen Lorentz,
Ola Nawrocki,
Megan Beaulieu, and
Colleen Whittaker. Another standout top finish came from
Gabriela Crother-Collado, as she finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle to highlight the other multiple individual victories for the Engineers.
RPI returns to action next Saturday, January 28 at 1 p.m. when they hit the pool in a dual meet with Hamilton College.
