HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Men's Swimming and Diving team battled in the pool in a dual meet with Hamilton College and Tufts on Saturday. The Engineers topped Hamilton by a score of 122-100, while RPI fell to Tufts 152-85 in the team's final tune up before the Liberty League Championships.
Standing out on the day for RPI was a pair of first place finishes from
Tony Min and Andrew Palmer. Min finished first in the Men's 200 yard fly with a time of 1:53.54, while Palmer brought in a top spot finish in the Men's 500 yard free with a time of 4:55.85.
Other notable finishes for the Engineers were all third place times, led by Min,
Mike Dowd,
Lorenzo Gurri, and
Jimmy Zhen in the Men's 200 yard free relay. The group put up a time of 1:27.79, while individually Dowd also scored a third place finsih in the Men's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.39.
Backing up Palmer's performance in the Men's 500 yard free was a third place finish from Samuel Ciegler with a time of 4:56.93, while Nick Stefanidis had a third place finish in the Men's 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.20.
RPI returns to the pool on Wednesday, February 15 when they take on Day 1 of the Liberty League Championships in Ithaca.
